The Memory House

Open on both sides and left intentionally empty, The Memory House serves as a materialised space of transit—a digestive system of its own, exerting no control over what flows in and what flows out. It functions as a mnemonic architecture, reflecting on our shared visual imaginary in today’s iconophagic society, where images from diverse cultural epochs continuously circulate and overlap. Evoking Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space, Isabella Séville Fürnkäs constructs skeletal structures that carry a delicate layer of photographic collages, as if emerging from a collective perceptual unconscious.
